BAA and the broader Bay Area stand in solidarity with immigrant communities—our neighbors, fellow school families, and colleagues—who are being threatened by potential National Guard and ICE raid surges. We view these potential raids as calculated assaults designed to fracture our communities, sending shockwaves of fear through our schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. Even legal residents and citizens have been wrongfully swept up in their dragnet. As a result, children are losing classmates, small businesses are suffering, and families are paralyzed by the fear of being torn apart without warning. This is a deliberate campaign of intimidation, and the resulting human cost is nothing short of devastating.
This manufactured atmosphere of terror demands an equally aggressive and unified response. We cannot afford to be passive or divided; our unity is non-negotiable. We must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our neighbors across Alameda, Solano, Contra Costa, and San Francisco counties, responding with a coordinated strategy of compassion, resistance, and support. By working together, ensuring resources are accessible, and refusing to abandon those targeted, we safeguard not only their lives but the shared, deeply held values that define our entire region.
